Haldi hacks: Every girl needs to know!

Beauty hacks with haldi

Turmeric powder is an irreplaceable ingredient in our food, but who’d have thought this pantry staple would be such a beauty find? Due to its anti inflammatory, anti bacterial elements and the presence of a compound called “curcumin”, it helps your skin improve its appearance, moisturize it and make it glowing and supple. And mixed with the right ingredients, it can be used for any skin type!
And since haldi is a dying agent, make sure to wear a tshirt that you aren’t too attached to cause it might get stained in the process.

Skin-
For normal/combination skin:
Haldi is a good cleanser, so just mix it with milk and leave it to dry. When applied on your lips regularly, it acts as a moisturizing agent and prevents chapped lips.
You could also mix haldi in with a spoonful of honey for an instant pick me up.
A paste made in turmeric yoghurt and avocadoes works wonders for your skin too.

For acne prone skin:
Turmeric masks help clear acne scars and reduce inflammation. With regular use, it reduces the amount of oil secreted by the sebaceous glands, which ensures fewer unattractive eruptions.
Prepare by mixing equal parts of haldi and sandalwood powder. Squeeze half a lemon into it to make it a paste. Leave on for 10 minutes and use thrice a week.
Apply turmeric with milk on acne scars and leave it on for 15 minutes.

For dry skin:
Make a mask using 1 egg white, few drops of olive oil, lemon juice, rose water and a pinch of turmeric. This hydrates and moisturizes the skin, giving it a healthy glow. You can apply this on all dry parts of your body; elbows, knees and your face. Let it dry completely and wash it off with lukewarm water.

Wrinkles and signs of aging:
No, you don’t need to buy expensive anti aging creams to win this battle. Everything is in your kitchen, so mix it up! Theses pastes can also be used on stretchmark’s.
Mix equal parts of turmeric powder, rice powder, raw milk and tomato juice, apply on your face for 30 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water. With regular use, this reduces fine lines and brightens the skin.
You can also make a paste using besan (gram flour) and turmeric. Mix with water, raw milk or even yoghurt. Apply evenly and allow it to dry. This also makes a brilliant exfoliator, so scrub in circular motions and wash.

Tan removal:
To remove skin tan and pigmentation, make a paste using turmeric powder and cucumber juice (or lemon) and apply on affected area for 20-30 minutes. Use thrice a week and see glowing radiant skin.

Hair removal:
Make a mix of gram flour and turmeric with a little bit of milk. Apply this on the facial hair and scrub. This should be applied consistently for about a month to see effective results. You could also mix turmeric in warm coconut water and apply it on your body. This discourages hair growth.

Cracked heels:
Turmeric acts as a healing agent too, so make a mix of haldi and a few drops of coconut oil and apply on your cracked heels for relief. This can be left over night. Alternatively, you could also mix it in castor oil and wash it off 30 minutes before a shower.

Dark circles:
Make a paste using turmeric and buttermilk; apply around eye area for 20 minutes. Rinse off with cold water and use this every night for best results.

Wounds and burns:
Apply aloe vera gel and turmeric on your burn and see it heal in no time. Because of its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, it is a miracle fixer.

Hair-
Dandruff:
Haldi is good for your hair as well as your skin. Dandruff and other scalp related issues can be fixed by applying a mixture of turmeric powder and olive oil on your scalp 20 minutes before you take a shower. It increases the blood circulation to the scalp making it healthier.

Prevention of hair loss and damaged dry hair:
An unhealthy diet, hair dryers and straighteners can take a toll on your locks. Make a paste of honey, milk and turmeric and apply on your hair to make it more vibrant and luscious.
