Blush on – tips & must have’s!

Hellow Girls!

The party/festive season is here and all you make up lovers are all set to look drop dead gorgeous!

Let me take this chance to introduce you all to a very important part of Make-up – The Blusher!

A blush on is usually used to add color to your face, by color I do not mean “looking like a joker” color. But color that make you not white, yet dewy, sun kissed and beautiful. Blusher also helps you to shift focus to your face’s best features, and help change the shape of your face.

It important to invest in a good blush on brush with soft tip, and good blusher brands safe for your face.

Like I always say, start with small quantity for one time application, observe how it makes your face look and gradually move to advanced quantity & shades.

Here is where you need apply the blusher based on the shape of your face.

Now, are my picks for Wheat-ish skin tones from my favorite make-up brand MAC.

These 2 shades are best for the Indian – medium skin tone, If you use a MAC base then these shades are suitable for anyone from the shade of NC 35 to NC 45. However a trial is a must to know if it is really suiting your face.

The shade “GLEEFUL” is a mineralize blusher of a pink tone. Suitable for pink color group eye shadows and lipsticks. I use it with heavy eyes and light pink lip shades.

The “PEACH TWIST” is Sheer tone shimmer blush, this just sounds loud, whereas it is pretty mild for day wear. I use it with shades of brown on the eyes & reds or nudes for the lips.

Both these shades are suitable to be teamed up with loud or mild eyes & lips.

Available at all MAC stores only.

Price: Approx Rs.1500/- (Not sure cos bought them a year ago!)

PS: Never keep both eye & lip make-up loud on colors, if you have loud color on your eyes try to keep the lip colors very subtle and vice-versa.

So go ahead, color yourself pretty!

BB cream – What? Why?

Seeing every actress advertise about it on prime time TV, I was wondering What & why is the big fuss about BB creams?
So this weekend did my bit of research and shopping! And here is what I found for you all!

Now, BB cream stands for blemish balm, blemish base, beblesh balm (apparently because of a trademark in Korea on the word “blemish”), and in Western markets, beauty balm.
BB cream is promoted as an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunblock. It can be worn alone as a tinted moisturizer, over serum and moisturizer as a regular foundation, and under powder, depending on the desired amount of coverage.
I went shopping and got hold of a pond’s all in one BB cream, shade natural cover.

This Beauty Benefit Cream claims to:
-Covers spots and lightens skin
-White beauty Fairness technology to improve your skin tone gradually.
-UV Protection

My review:
-Cost effective and easily available.
-Light weight, smells nice, spreads easily
-Available only in one shade -natural cover for medium to fair skin, so incase you are a shade darker than medium tone you could look like a white ghost!
-It lasts long due to its light weight finish, but in a humid climate you might need to dab the extra oil with a tissue paper and follow by a compact, every 3 to 4 hours, depending on how oily your skin is.
-The skin texture also looks illuminated and dewy.
-Not sure on its fairness cream claims as I need still use it for a longer while to observe its effect.

How to use it?
– you can first moisturise your skin with a very light weight moisturiser like Olay, then apply this bb cream with a foundation brush for complete even coverage.
-follow this up with you shade compact to avoid an oily finish.
-incase you have a shade problem, and this shade is lighter than your skin tone, then you can blend a few drops of your exact shade liquid foundation with bb cream to match the closest to your skin tone, followed by your shade compact powder. Incase there is too much of a shade difference, just avoid using a bb cream at all, until you find your shade in any other brand as well.

TIP: Whenever you are trying a new make up product, always start with a little, then watch and observe how it sits on your skin for a few hours and slowly increase to an appropriate quantity. This way you learn about your skin and what suits it.

Go try this bb baby!
