Well, you all would have figured out how I absolutely love perfumes and keep updating my stock with new brands and trying fragrances out of my comfort zone.
I get this habit and love for perfumes from my family. My father has an amazing collection of Perfumes and ‘Itars’ which is also known as ‘Attar’ in India which is a Fragrant essential Oil typically made from rose petals and were used by Mughals and kings in India back in those days and my Mother who has an amazing collection and perfumes as old as 20 years which were passed on to her from her mother.
I mostly like Fruity/ Floral fragrances but totally love anything strong which would last long enough as well.
That’s confusing I know 😛
Here are a few tips on what to look for before you buy a new perfume –
-
Make sure the Fragrance fits your lifestyle/Environment and Season
There are Winter and Summer fragrances , winter fragrances comprise of Woody , Rich , musky undertones of Vanilla , Cassie, Rose etc.
Summer on the other hand has more of Fruity /Citrus/Floral more natural fragrances.
-
Fragrances turn up different on everyone’s body , I suggest you try out a sample on your wrist and Leave it on for a few minutes before you decide to buy it.
-
Sniff the perfume from the bottle and compare it with the tested sample on your wrist or on the blotter sheet.
-
Make sure you know the difference between EDP, EDT ,EDC and Parfum and choose accordingly.
EDP is EAU DE PARFUM which is a French word and means that the concentration level is between 8-15% and can last from 3-5 hours. EDT is EAU DE TOILETTE is lighter than EDP with a 4-8% concentration of the essence and usually lasts for 2-4 hours and then is EDC which is EAU DE COLOGNE with a concentration of 2-4% and lasts up to 2 hours.
Parfum on the other hand has the highest concentration and lasts the longest out of all the above and are also expensive compared to EDP, EDT and EDC.
Please keep the points above in mind and pick up ‘the one’ you like
